Concord Coffee shop is staffed by adults with disabilities. Learning various job skills and engaging with the community while being conscientious of the environment are what we constantly work towards. Come visit us for a coffee!
Concord in the City has teamed up with the local community to employ our skills of yard maintenance, with raking and bagging, gardening, and upkeep of yards.
Participants prepare food items at a bakery learning procedural steps, food handling safety, time management, and working in a cooperative setting.
Concord volunteers at various events around Toronto. Here you can see us at the Scotiabank Marathon organizing and delivering shirts to participants.
Concord's flexibility in job training covers various needs of each individual.
This includes:
-Training at our office, with a 3:1 ratio (money management, social etiquette, etc.)
-On the Job training at our coffee shop
-Job shadowing, one-on-one staff member at job placement to help with transition
Lego land, the ROM, Christmas lights festivals, Canada's Wonderland, art programs, movie theatres, Humber Gym, the Zoo, Ripley's, Niagara Falls, CNE, The Butterfly Conservatory, and Pirate Ship Cruises, are a few of the many excursions we go on year-round. We also offer opportunities for swimming, hiking, yoga, apple picking, seasonal markets, and so much more.
Equally important to learning, participants also take part in a healthy fitness lifestyle. This includes trying new sports like curling, bowling and 9 Rounds Fitness. Here at Concord, we focus on understanding and building upon physical literacy and personal fitness goals.
Our daily program naturally provides walks to the grocery store, lakeside strolls, the dollar store, or a local Tim Hortons. We also take the TTC for outings to build on independent transportation experience and get to places quicker (most of the time)!
Concord Office is the hub of our program. You will find us there in the morning going over our daily routines.
